"NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF MINING"

This is Vaibhav Patel ,student of GVM's GGPR College of Commerce and Economics and today I would like to share my point of view on the topic called negative effects of mining on environment.

The environment impact of mining includes erosion , formation of sinkholes , loss of biodiversity , and contamination of soil , groundwater and surface water by chemicals from mining processes. Besides creating environmental damage, the contamination resulting from leakage of chemicals also affects the health of the local population . Mining companies in some countries are required to fallow environmental and rehabitation codes , ensuring the area mined is returned close to its original state . Some mining methods may have significant environmental and public health effects . Nuss and Eckelman (2014) provide an overview of the life cycle wide environmental impact of metals production accociated with 62 metals in year 2008 .

Erosion of exposed hillsides , mine dumps , tailing dams and resultant of drainages , creeks and rivers can significantly impact the surrounding areas . In wilderness areas mining may cause destruction and disturbance of ecosystems and habitats , and in areas of farming it may disturb or destroy productive grazing and croplands . In urbanised environments mining may produce noise pollution , dust pollution and visual pollution .

Mining has its many advantages but while looking at this we can also see the effects it has on environment as well as on human healkth . Human beings are after moneys so that they can live a healthy and wealthy life so as to earn a little more money by harming ourselves as well to the mother environment .
